Frequently Asked Questions

A float tank, also known as a sensory deprivation or isolation tank, is a tank or pod that’s filled with about 10 inches of water and around 1,000 lbs of high grade epsom salt, allowing the user to escape the effects of gravity and float. The water is heated to skin temperature, and the lights can be turned off. Floating has been commonly described as similar to relaxing in outer space or being back in the womb. It is like no other experience in the world.

Although everyone is different, if you’ve never floated before we recommend trying it at least 3 times within a few weeks. Floating is a practice, just like yoga or learning a new skill. Even though your first float might be profound and mind-blowing, some people need a few floats to explore the float space and get comfortable with floating. Know that each float is different, and that the results get better over time. Whether you float once a week, or once a month, the benefits from floating accumulate and increase the more you do it. Our 3-Float Intro and our Float Club Membership allows you to experience the benefits that regular floating offers.

Absolutely. Floaters shower before and after going in, and the 1,000+ lbs of Epsom Salt is an active anti-bacterial. The water is filtered multiple times immediately after each float, and goes thru pool filters and EPA UV light filters. Small amounts of Hydrogen Peroxide are maintained, and small amounts of natural enzymes and other natural disinfectants are also used. If somehow bacteria in the water exceeded safe levels, you would still have to drink about 24-48 ounces of the float water in an attempt to get sick.

Most people who have never floated before will say that they are claustrophobic. Of course! However, in reality, floating is much different from being locked in a coffin, or getting an MRI.

The door is never locked and opens easily. The float space is actually much larger than you would think. You can actually stand up in our larger float room (over 9 feet tall). You are more than welcome to float with the door open and lights on the whole time if you please. Even when closed, again, the door is never locked, and you can easily open it and come in and out as you please. You are in total control the entire time.

The door is not airtight, and there are vents and fans that circulate fresh air. The water level is 10 inches, it would be extremely difficult to drown, and the salt water would burn if it were to get in your eyes, nose, or mouth.

Our floats are designed to be an individual experience. Our Couples Float is usually for two people floating at the same time, in completely seperate rooms.

Nope! Clothing against the skin will disturb the floater, and clothing may also carry unwanted oils, lotions, soaps, perfumes, and bacteria. There are no bathing suits or clothing allowed.

Yes, everyone is able to float. This is due to the high epsom salt concentration which pushes you upward, making you float like a cork. For some perspective, ocean water is 3% saturated with salt, our float tank is about 35% saturated. Just lay back and relax.
